Copley Investment Management

Copley Investment Management (CIM) primarily serves individual and small business retirement plans with expert investment guidance that is truly independent (no commissions) and transparent (no hidden fees).


CIM adheres to a disciplined investment strategy and a commitment to serving the long-term interests of the serious investor. In addition, CIM provides two ancillary services: business valuation and forensic economic analysis for the legal community, and international consulting for foreign governments wanting to develop their financial infrastructure. CIM provides all its services by upholding the highest standards of ethics combined with solid experience and expertise.

Ron Copley, Founder & Principal

Ron Copley founded Copley Investment Management (CIM) in 1985. Prior to that, Ron served in the 5th Special Forces Group in the US Army from 1966 to 1969 during which he received the Bronze Star Medal for valor as an infantry officer in Vietnam. After his military service, Ron pursued his education and careers in both academia and the investment advisory business. He has served as a Professor of Finance at Queens College, Memphis University, UNC Chapel Hill and UNC Wilmington where he published over 40 academic and professional articles. Currently, CIM manages approximately $75 million for individuals and small business retirement plans, provides business valuations for legal matters, and actively provides international consulting services to foreign governments. He is conversant in Arabic and Japanese. Ron and his wife Wanda live in Wilmington, NC. They have one child, Alyx (13) and are members of St. James Episcopal Church. Wanda serves as the County Attorney for New Hanover County.

Rick Willetts, Associate

Education

Mr. Willetts attended the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and graduated from Guilford College. Mr. Willetts earned his Graduate Degree from the Graduate School of Savings and Loans from Indiana University in 1982.

Business Experience

Mr. Willetts worked in the banking industry for 37 years, 18 of which he was CEO. Willetts began working as a teller, and worked in every department prior to being the CEO. Duties included a mortgage loan officer, a commercial loan officer, a loan underwriter that included reviewing and approval of loans for coastal development, and head of the loan department.

As CEO of the bank, Willetts was involved in underwriting and approving all major development projects for a $1 Billion bank with 25 offices stretching from the Outer Banks of North Carolina to the Grand Strand of South Carolina.

Mr. Willetts was involved in the banking community. Some include Mr. Willetts being a former Chairman of North Carolina Bankers Association; President of the Southeastern Conference U.S. Savings and Loan League; Director of Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, and Vice Chairman of the American Bankers Association. Mr. Willetts also was a member of The Thrift Institutions Advisory Council to The Federal Reserve Board in Washington, DC as well as a member of the North Carolina Banking Commission.
