Wilmington man convicted of sex offense, robbery charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A jury convicted Darius Jermaine Green on several charges after a trial in New Hanover County court this week, related to a home invasion that took place Sept. 20, 2011 at a home in Wilmington.

The jury found Green guilty on charges that included first degree burglary, first degree kidnapping, three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, and one count of first degree sexual offense.

Green was 19 years old at the time of the incident. Prosecutors say Green, who had a long criminal record prior to these offenses, pistol-whipped one victim in the home invasion and also sexually assaulted a woman.

Green was sentenced to between 42 and 51 years in prison.

According to the District Attorney’s office, Green pleaded guilty to federal charges of armed robbery for an incident at the Holiday Inn in Wilmington that happened two days after the home invasion. He will be sentenced on that charge at a later date.
