WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Two men face drug charges after Wilmington Police officers stopped a vehicle that they were on the lookout for.
According to authorities, a patrol officer saw a vehicle matching the description of vehicle to be on the lookout for, for a possible DWI driver. The officer noticed that the vehicle did not stop at a stop sign, so he conducted a traffic stop.
When backup officers arrived on scene, they smelled marijuana coming from the passenger side of the car, where Trevor Demon Brown, 32, was sitting. Because of the odor, officers then searched the vehicle.
Officers discovered that Brown had a small amount of marijuana folded in inside of a dollar bill. They also found a suspected marijuana cigar, a sandwich bag of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Brown was subsequently arrested and charged for two outstanding warrants for felony probation violations, along with possession with intent to sell and distribute marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver within 1,000 feet of a park and felony larceny.
Brown is currently in the New Hanover County Jail under a $81,500 bond.
The vehicle’s driver, 25-year-old Terrell Lamont Edwards, was charged with suspicion of DWI, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling to sell a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and distribute marijuana, felony possession of marijuana and possession with the intent to sell in deliver within 1,000 feet of a park.
Edward also remains in county jail, under a $25,800 bond.
