WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Police have made an arrest following a robbery involving area taxi drivers, according to authorities.

Two taxi cab drivers were robbed within a few hours at gunpoint in Wilmington and another cab company reported something missing from a car.

Eddie Leon McCracken, 48, was arrested Thursday afternoon based on evidence and interviews with the victims involved linking him to the crimes.

The first robbery was of a Yellow Cab driver. It happened after the driver picked up a man at 11th and Ann streets and took him to the 1300 block of Martin Street. Prior to the driver telling the suspect what the fare was, the suspect pulled out a revolver and demanded money from the driver, who complied.

The suspect then got out and fled on foot.

Then, police say around 4:30 a.m., a driver with Kat's Transportation Taxi Car picked up the suspect at the Reel Café. When the driver got to the 800 block of Ann Street, the suspect demanded the driver give him money, and pointed an object at him as though it were a gun.

The driver and suspect then struggled, and the suspect bit the driver's hand. The driver ended up giving the suspect some cash before the suspect fled.

Investigators say that around the same time, another cab company reported something missing out of a car.
