Accused robbers use woman's voice to lure in victim

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Two men with handguns are accused of robbing a woman in her home located in the 400 block of N. 12 Street Sunday night just before 8:45.

According to police, the victim said she noticed someone trying to turn her front door knob trying to get in about 15 minutes before she was robbed. The victim looked out the peep hole and saw a man standing in front of the door wearing a hoodie and a white bandanna.

The victim didn’t open the door or call police, but told officials that a short time later someone knocked at the door and a woman’s voice asked for her by name.

According to police, the victim opened the door and two men armed with handguns went into her apartment while a woman and third man waited outside.

The intruders demanded cash, so the victim handed over money and they left.
