WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A man faces drug charges following foot chase involving police.
Officers with the Wilmington Police Department were on patrol Saturday night in the 200 block of North 11th Street when they noticed a suspicious person, according to a WPD spokesperson.
The suspect was digging in his pockets, and when officers approached him, he took off running. Officers caught up with him and searched him, where they found 100 bindles of heroin and eight grams of marijuana.
They also found a car that the suspect had the keys to, a gun under the seat and five grams of crack cocaine.
As a result, 23-year-old Wilbert Wells of Wilmington was charged with possession with intent to sell heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver within 1,000 feet of parks, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
