WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Officers with the Wilmington Police Department are hosting a week’s worth of events for rising 4th and 5th grade girls in the community.
Children participating in the five-day camp will get to enjoy recreational activities, field trips, educational experiences and a community service project.
Tuesday, the campers are taking part in ice skating at the Ice House with Chief Ralph Evangelous.
Campers will go bowling Wednesday, and go kayaking and swimming Thursday. Friday, a detective will give them a fencing demonstration before a graduation ceremony is held at the WPD headquarters.
The police department has been running the Cop Camp sessions since 1995.
A Cop Camp for boys was held in June.
