WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Cape Fear Community College is celebrating the works of African-American poets during Black History Month.

The event is called "Black Poets Speak" and features a series of 30 audio recordings of African-American poetry which cover a range of historical periods, from slavery to present day.

After listening to the recordings, people can visit a "Reflection Station" to respond with their own reactions. 

Some local talent will appear at the event, including regional authors Glenis Redmond, Shelton Green, Lenard D. Moore, Jason Mott and L. Lamar Wilson.

"Black Poets Speak"

  • Feb. 15 and 22
  • 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Room L-110A in the Health Sciences Building at the downtown Wilmington campus.

Admission is free. Visitor parking is available in the college lot at the corner of Walnut and Second streets.
