Local American Red Cross honors exceptional service recipients | Business

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The Cape Fear Chapter of the American Red Cross held its 103rd annual meeting and awards ceremony on Thursday night in Wilmington.

More than 40 community members attended the event, which was held at the City Club at de Rosset, according to a news release.

The following attendees were honored for exceptional service, the release said:

• Service to Armed Forces Award-Rosa Rivera
• Blood Services Award-Joe Boccia and Sofonda Edwards
• Disaster Services Award-The Diaz Family
• Health & Safety Support Award-John Bellamy, Jim Dugan, Lindsey Gaines, Casey Lewis and Mike Seigh
• Employee Excellence Award-Wendy Flynn & Autum Mihm
• Volunteer Leadership Award-James “Wilson” Spaulding
• Outstanding Community Partner Award-COSTCO

New Board of Directors officers and members were also elected during the event. Here’s the list of team members who will take office on July 1:

• Officers: Bradley Coxe, Chairman; Brad Barth, Vice Chair I; Peggy O’Leary, Vice Chair II & Philanthropy Committee Chair; Connie Reeves, Secretary; Larry Matheny, Immediate Past Chairman & Board Development Committee Chair.
• Members At Large: Maggi Apel, Kathleen Baylies, Jay Briley, Craig Buzak, Wanda Coley, Alex Lane, Madonna Nash, Sabina Newman, Andy Simpson, Marcus Smith, Nolan Smith, Tony Stroud, Teesta Sullivan.
