Manhole installation planned at Market, 3rd Street intersection | Business

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A portion of the Market and Third Street intersection will be closed until Friday while a large manhole is installed, according to City of Wilmington spokesperson Malissa Talbert.

The second phase of work will be from July 31 through Aug. 3, which will involved traffic detours.

Traffic coming into downtown Wilmington will not be able to cross or turn on Third Street, but will be able to access Third Street at any other intersection, Talbert said. The official detour will take drivers from Market Street on 17th Street and then Chestnut Street to Third Street.

The work is part of the North Third Street Improvement Project, which is expected to be complete by November.
