SOUTHEASTERN NC (WECT) – Eleven schools in the Cape Fear region have been awarded $5,500 in grant funding, thanks to Scotchman Convenience Stores and the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program.
According to a news release on behalf of VPS Convenience Store Group, Scotchman and school officials worked together to get the grants, which will go toward math and science education.
The following schools that were chosen for the grants include:
VPS, which is headquartered in Wilmington, is the 13th largest grantor of educational funds in the U.S. for 2012-2013, thanks to this year’s grant total.
Throughout the southeast service area, the VPS Convenience Store Group and the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program have been able to award $30,500 in grant funding to 61 schools to support math and science education.
VPS operates 421 stores in eight states under the names Scotchman, Village Pantry, Li’l Cricket, Young’s Food Stores, Everyday Shops and Next Door Stores.
