WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Wilmington Police Department received more than 20 free lap quilts from the local chapter of the American Sewing Guild.
The quilts will be placed in patrol cruisers in case officers need to use them for a victim, particularly a child.
The American Sewing Guild is a national organization dedicated to advancing sewing as a life and art skill. There are 135 chapters across the country, with nearly 1,000 neighborhood groups.
There are 45 members in the Wilmington area. The group meets once a month but is hoping to expand. If you're interested in sewing, contact your local chapter of the ASG at asg@harborhandcrafts.com.
