NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Landfall Foundation has awarded New Hanover County Schools approximately $54,000 in grants. A total of ten schools will directly benefit from the grants, while other partnering programs received grants that will impact student success.

Forest Hills Global Elementary School was awarded $3,800 towards the Improving Learning through Technology program, which provides video equipment to improve learning and familiarity with technology.

Lake Forest Academy will be able to purchase Wii equipment to be used in the “Wii Like to Exercise” program with a $2,577 grant. The game system will be used by 50-60 special needs students.

New Hanover High School’s Band received $5,760 to be used towards individual music lessons for 75-90 students.

Noble Middle School’s PTA was awarded $4,000 for the purchase of an iPad learning Cart that will serve as a learning lab for 725 students.

Sunset Park Elementary School’s PTA was granted $3,300 for the “Guys Read: Boys Book Club.” This money will provide a library and reading room for boys who struggle with reading.
