Miss North Carolina to perform at Miss Greater Wilmington pageant | Community Spirit

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The 2012 Miss Greater Wilmington and Greater Wilmington Outstanding Teen will be announced following the scholarship pageants on Saturday, Jan. 28 at UNCW’s Kenan Auditorium.
Miss North Carolina, Hailey Best, who finished in the Top 15 in the Miss American pageant, is expected to perform at the event, which starts at 7 p.m.
The winners will reportedly be chosen from 19 local ladies between the ages of 13 and 24 to represent New Hanover, Brunswick, Pender, Onslow and Duplin counties. They will compete in private interview, swimsuit/fitness, talent, and evening gown categories, according to a news release.
Emori Bellamy, Wilmington’s Outstanding Teen, and Megan Everette, Miss Greater Wilmington 2011, will end their reign as representatives of the area.
The local pageant is an official preliminary of the Miss America Program, with the winner going on to compete at Miss North Carolina.
Tickets are available at the door for $12. Gift baskets and raffle tickets will also be available.
