NHCS District wins three Blue Ribbon awards | Community Spirit

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The New Hanover County Schools District was honored with three achievement awards at the North Carolina School Public Relations Association’s annual Blue Ribbon Awards for Effective Communications event in Durham.
A total of 25 school districts won 83 awards in 11 categories, according to a news release. Here is a list of awards received by New Hanover County Schools:
- Excellence in Writing, “Lessons Learned from Miss Irene,” written by Valita Quattlebaum, NHCS Chief Communications Officer
- Electronic Media, “On the Menu,” a NHCS-TV program created with the Child Nutrition Department
- Photography by Crystal Buie of NHCS students participating in the Special Olympics
NCSPRA President Michael Yarbrough, Communications Specialist with the Department of Public Instruction Communications Division, stated, “The work of these colleagues was judged to be superior and a credit to the practice of school public relations.”
