WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The Wilmington Hammerheads are joining the fight against breast cancer.

To show their support for survivors and those battling the disease, Friday's game against the Dayton Dutch Lions will be a 'Pink Out' game. The players and the dance team will be sporting pink uniforms and fans are encouraged to wear pink as well. Before the game starts, there will be a silent auction.

Fans will have a chance to bid on signed pink jerseys worn by the Hammerheads during the game along with other items. A percentage of the proceeds from the silent auction will go to the NHRMC (New Hanover Regional Medical Center) Foundation’s Pink Ribbon Project.  The project helps to fund mammography screenings, diagnostics and other types of support for women battling breast cancer.

The silent auction will start at 6 p.m. in front of Legion Stadium, the game starts at 7:30 p.m.
