WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A local restaurant will be expanding to the downtown Wilmington area soon, according to officials with Wilmington Downtown, Inc.
Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar’s second location will be opening at 109 Market Street, where Green’s Grille was formerly housed.
Shuckin’ Shack is described as a family-friendly restaurant based out of Carolina Beach since 2007, and the owners, Sean Cook and Matt Picinin, had reportedly been looking to expand for more than two years.
The men considered several locations, including Southport and Surf City, but eventually decided on the downtown Wilmington spot.
The restaurant will sponsor an oyster shucking contest during the 19th Annual Pleasure Island Seafood Blues and Jazz Festival, which is scheduled to taker place from October 13-14. The winner of that contest will get a year of free oysters at the new location.
