Turning a parking space into a park | Community Spirit

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – PARK(ing) Day took place Friday to bring attention to the need for more urban parks.

Wilmington Downtown, Inc. paid for a metered parking spot on Front Street between Chestnut and Grace Streets in Wilmington from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

PARK(ing) Day is an annual global event where people transform metered parking spaces into parks. According to the organization’s website, the project began in 2005.
