WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The Trinity Children’s Foundation, a Wilmington-based group, is planning a cross-country ride to Colorado in honor of the group’s founder, Doris Eakes.
The bike ride will begin in Washington, NC on June 1.
Bikers will then make the trip to Colorado and return to High Point, NC on June 9.All the funds raised for this trip will go toward funding the children’s camp, which organizers hope to build at Wallace Farms in Pinetown, NC.
This ride will be limited to 20 bikes. Each bike will need to have sponsorship of $2,500 and each rider will pay their own expenses.
Organizers say they only have a few spots left open, so if you are interested in joining you should make contact with them now. All bikes must have at least a five gallon fuel tank.
Eakes passed away in December, but organizers say this event was something she was really looking forward to and even wanted to participate herself.
According to organizers, the ride will visit Pikes Peak and Mt Evans in Colorado.
The trip will include a number of stops along historic sites, well-known restaurants and shopping areas.
If you would like to join, contact Greg Pratt with Trinity Children’s Foundation.
