Crime

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Wilmington Police Department is asking for help to identify a suspect who allegedly stole a power drill after walking into a backyard in Wilmington, according to a police spokesperson.

A privately-owned surveillance system shows the man, whom police say is tall and black, coming into the yard from a back alley. He looks around, tries to open a parked car's door, and then briefly disappears.

He then comes back to the front yard and attempts to leave through a locked gate.

Once realizing the gate is locked, the suspect disappears. Police believe he may have left the area by jumping the fence.

Anyone with information on the possible suspect is asked to call the Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-3600.

You can also submit information anonymously through Text-A-Tip by entering Tip708 and the information, and texting it to CRIMES (274637).
