Turning off the lights saves nearly $1M
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Turning the lights off will save the New Hanover County School System nearly a million dollars.
New Hanover County Schools partnered with an energy consulting company to help reduce costs.
According to the results, the first year savings exceeded the goal of $800,000. They made cuts in electricity, natural gas and propane.
The school system will continue to look for alternate energy efficient sources to keep costs low.
