NHHS Lyceum presents 'Evil in the Port City' | Entertainment

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Students from New Hanover High School's Lyceum Program will launch their annual haunted house this weekend.

This year, the event will take place at the old Marine Reserve Barracks at 2150 Burnett Boulevard, near the state ports. The location is 14,000 square feet and the barracks are being recast at the hotel in Erik Larson's bestseller, Devil in the White City.

The true story takes place at the Chicago World's Fair of 1893, nicknamed the "White City" for its majestic beauty. Serial killer Dr. H.H. Holmes used the hotel built for the fair to lure victims to dreadful deaths.

Lyceum is calling their haunted event, "Evil in the Port City."

The schedule is as follows:

October: 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 31

• Thursday: 7-10 p.m.
• Fri/Sat: 7 p.m. – midnight
• Sunday: 7-10 p.m.
