WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - If you want to hit the water this spring, but you're not exactly sure how, Cape Fear Community College can help.
The school is offering a two-day boating course on Feb. 4 and 11.
Certified instructors will teach people how to pilot, anchor and dock a boat, use GPS navigation, and maneuver a boat in adverse conditions. They'll also teach local knowledge of the Cape Fear River and Intracoastal Waterway.
The course costs $35, which includes the America's Boating Course 3rd Edition textbook and other materials. There's an optional three-hour class on the water that participants can schedule during the course. That costs an additional $15.
Graduates of the course are eligible for free six-month memberships in the Cape Fear Sail & Power Squadron.
