WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Cape Fear Community College students will be able to find out about a wide variety of volunteer opportunities in the local area at the CFCC Service Learning Fair on Wed., Jan. 23 at the downtown Wilmington Campus.
The CFCC service learning program was developed to combine academic studies with volunteer efforts.
According to service learning coordinator Kate Santhuff, the program provides students a way to give back to their community, enhance their overall learning experience and earn college credit.
"Participating students should make a connection between their course studies and their service learning, all while making their own communities a better place to live," Santhuff said.
The event will feature dozens of area organizations and is being held in recognition of the 2013 Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service. The fair will be held from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the first floor of the Health Sciences building.
