NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Residents in New Hanover County can cash in on free family fun the first Sunday of each month.
Residents are invited to visit Airlie Gardens, the Cape Fear Museum and the New Hanover County Arboretum free of charge.
Airlie Gardens is 67-acres of quintessential Southern gardens with access to Bradley Creek and 10-acres of freshwater lakes. The county purchased the garden in 1999. Airlie is open on Sundays, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The Cape Fear Museum is located on Market Street in historic downtown Wilmington. The museum collects, preserves, and interprets objects relating to the history, science and cultures of the Lower Cape Fear. Sunday hours of operations are 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The New Hanover County Arboretum, located on Oleander Drive, is a special seven-acres in the county where homeowners can see the variety of plants that grow in the area. They are open on Sundays from sunup to sundown.
