WILMINGTON, NC (WECT/CNN) – Some people are calling Sunday's Super Bowl "The Blackout Bowl" after a power outage made the game come to a screeching halt for a half hour in the third quarter.

The dome wasn't completely in darkness, but it was enough to stop the game. NBC took full advantage of the situation to promote the TV series Revolution on social media.

Within minutes of the outage, the official Twitter account for the show tweeted, "Just a taste of what's to come on March 25."

Another tweet followed just moments later with a picture of a necklace that is central to the show's plot saying, "If only the stadium had one of these."

Announcements were made to more than 75,000 in the dome to remain seated and that power would be restored shortly, but the delay stretched 34 minutes before football could resume.

A spokesman for Entergy, the utility that powers the Superdome and much of the area, said the problem was confined to the stadium itself.

He said power elsewhere in New Orleans was not disrupted.

According to NBC, Revolution takes
15 years in the future and shows the aftermath of a global blackout
where the entire world lost power.

The show filmed scenes in Burgaw last week and is slated to continuing filming in Wilmington. Revolution will return March 25 and
airs Mondays at 10/9c.
