WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Some famous faces were among thousands who took to the streets of Wilmington to fight for the film industry Saturday afternoon.
Dean Norris, who plays Hank Schrader on AMC’s Breaking Bad, and Jane McNeill, who played Patricia on The Walking Dead, rallied against a plan to make changes to the state's film incentive plan at downtown's Riverfront Park, alongside other actors, film industry workers, politicians and concerned citizens.
“NC film incentive rally! Downtown Wilmington” tweeted Norris, who’s currently in town filming the upcoming TV series Under the Dome. He later added a picture of himself at the event, writing “Film = jobs.”
Earlier this week, Reps. Rick Catlin (R-New Hanover) and Chris Millis (R-Pender) introduced House Bill 994, which would eliminate film tax credits altogether.
Critics say the bill would gut the film industry, because the changes would give companies credits instead of cash back.
