NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The New Hanover County Department of Social Social Services is going to start taking applications for help with heating costs soon, according to a news release from a county spokesperson.
No one is automatically eligible for the assistance; each household must turn in an application. However, priority will be given to households with a disabled person who also gets services through the Division of Aging and Adult Services and to households with a resident 60 or older.
The priority type of households mentioned above that meet all other eligibility requirements can turn in applications from Dec. 3 to Jan. 31, 2013, or until funding runs out.
All other interested households can apply from Feb. 1 of next year through March 31.
Those interested in applying will need a form of ID, verification of household income and a copy of their heating bill.
For more information, contact the Department of Social Services at (910) 798-3400.
