WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Changes could soon be coming to some streets in the City of Wilmington.
City officials will meet Monday night to discuss collector streets, which are streets that people travel along to connect to other major streets to reduce congestion.
The city is working with the Wilmington Metropolitan Planning Organization on a long-range plan that may impact many residential and commercial areas of Wilmington in the future.
Several streets in Wilmington, like Wilshire Boulevard and New Centre Drive, have already been acting as collector streets.
During the meeting, workers with the city's transportation department will discuss possible design features, better mapping and other neighborhood streets that could be classified as a collector street.

When it comes to repairs and maintenance, collector streets are normally at the top of the list.
The public is encouraged to come to the meeting Monday and give their opinion along with suggestions they may have.
Residents are also encouraged to take a survey to provide feedback to the city.
The meeting will be held at the New Hanover County Government complex from 5:00-7:00 Monday evening.
