Man shot in hand, chest during home invasion attempt | News

WILMINGTON,NC (WECT) - A man was shot while trying to protect his property on Wooster Street Sunday night, according to Wilmington Police.

A call of "shots fired" came in to police shortly before 10pm.  They arrived to 5th and Wooster to find a man who was shot in the hand and chest.  Officers treated him until EMS could arrive on scene.

The victim told police several men tried to get into the back door his home.  He fought them off but got shot in the process.  After the robbers took off, the victim knocked on some neighbors' doors to get help. 

Witnesses tell police that the robbers left in a 2009 Honda Accord, which may have been white with tinted windows.
