NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Last week, WECT.com reported that the City of Wilmington may have to pay for a $1.7 million capital improvement project.
According to the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority's agreement with Wilmington, the city has to cover the cost of any expansion or improvement project.
Currently, the CFPUA has plans to build a 24-inch water line in Monkey Junction, to which council member Charlie Rivenbark says, the city plans to pay its portion of the extension.
Rivenbark also says that with state lawmakers holding a session next month, there's no telling how long the current dispute over annexation could last, so there's no need in making citizens wait before starting on the project.
