YMCA holds triathlon for kids | News

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Some area kids hit the pool, picked up their bikes and strapped on their running shoes Saturday in a triathlon just for them.

The Wilmington Family YMCA hosted its annual Kids Triathlon. One organizer said the event started because parents who ran in triathlons wanted to get their kids involved. Since then, the event has grown significantly.

Nearly 150 kids, starting at age five, participated. The YMCA held several clinics in the weeks leading up to the event. Many kids prepared for the event for three months.
