Wilmington,
NC – The July 21, 2012 match
between the Wilmington Hammerheads and the Charlotte Eagles at Charlotte
Christian Stadium that was postponed for a later date due to unsuitable field
conditions has officially been rescheduled.
After weeks of deliberation, the game has been scheduled to
take place on Friday, August 17 at Wingate
University with kickoff
slated for 7:00 p.m. at the Wingate University Soccer Complex.
The original match-up between the two teams in July was
called off just prior to kickoff after an examination of the field proved
unplayable. Days before, a large rainstorm hit the Charlotte area causing damage throughout the
community and at the stadium.
This will be the final away game for the Wilmington
Hammerheads during the 2012 regular season. The Hammerheads' last home game at
Legion Stadium is scheduled for the following day, Saturday, August 18, versus
the Charlotte Eagles in a back-to-back doubleheader. A final match win at
Legion will result in the Hammerheads being undefeated for the entire 2012
season on their home turf.
With only two games left, the Hammerheads are currently tied
for third in the USL PRO rankings with the Charleston Battery amid Richmond,
Harrisburg, and Charlotte trailing behind just within reach hoping to make a
spot in the playoffs.
