News

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Board of Trustees for Cape Fear Community College voted to hire Dr. Ted Spring has its next president.

Dr. Spring is the current president of New River Community and Technical College in West Virginia.  He brings more than four decades of higher education experience to the school.

"The presidential search process has identified an excellent choice for CFCC's next president. Dr. Spring is an experienced, proven leader who possesses genuine passion, integrity, and vision. Given his past accomplishments, there is no doubt that he will be a valuable asset to our community.  The Board unanimously agrees that Dr. Spring is the clear choice to lead CFCC to the next level of success," said Barren Nobles, Chairman of the Board, in an emailed release.

Dr. Spring replaces Dr. Eric McKeithan, who retired earlier this year after eighteen years at CFCC.

Dr. Spring's start date has not been announced yet. The NC State Board of Community Colleges needs to give final approval to the decision.

The board set Dr. Spring's starting salary at $250,020, which is less than McKeithan's salary of $320,000 at his retirement.
