WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority hired a company to replace and repair part of sanitary sewer lines and manholes near 19th Street at Castle Street and Colwell Avenue.

According to CFPUA, contractors have already moved equipment in the area but road closures won't begin until Monday.

CFPUA officials said construction will take place Mon-Fri, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. (weather permitting).

The road closures will happen in three phases in an effort to minimize impacts on residents and traffic in the area.

Phase I

Beginning, Monday, September 10, 2012, Castle Street, between 18th Street and Hudson Drive will be closed for approximately five days. No through traffic will be permitted through the construction site.

Phase II

19th Street, from the intersection of 19th and Castle Streets to the intersection of 19th Street and Colwell Avenue will be closed starting around September 17, 2012.

Phase III

A portion of Colwell Avenue from 19th to Lingo Streets will be closed. Start date to be determined and indicated by on site signage.

The sewer line repair project is anticipated to be completed by the end of October.
