CHARGED: Woman drops off drug dealer, charged with child abuse

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Officers with the Wilmington Police Department arrested and charged a 24-year-old mother for child abuse and possession of heroin.

According to police, Jessica Lynee Davenport was spotted by officers dropping off a suspected drug dealer in the area of Pauline Place early Friday morning.

Davenport was pulled over for a traffic infraction and officers discovered she had two Pit Bulls and her child in the car with her.

Police say Davenport confessed to buying Heroin from the drug dealer. The officers called Animal Control to take the dogs and the NHC Department of Social Services.

Davenport was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, misdemeanor child abuse, reckless driving to endanger and possession of drug paraphernalia.
