WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – City council members in Wilmington are moving forward with a plan to reforest trees along Market Street in the area that was added to the most threatened list in 2011.
Council unanimously voted to replace 25 of the 85 trees along Market Street, while replanting 35 trees along the same stretch between 17th and 20th Streets.
City planners decided to use Highrise Live Oak Trees, which are similar to traditional Live Oak for the reforesting project.
Earlier this year, a tree limb fell and destroyed a car due to the condition of a tree in that area.
