WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - For the first time, Thalian Association Children's Theater is tackling a play by William Shakespeare.

For its debut of the bard's work, the group will present Romeo and Juliet.  It's one of the most well-known Shakespeare works about two star-crossed young lovers whose families are rivals. When Juliet Capulet and Romeo Montague have a chance meeting, they are put on a path of romance and tragedy.

TACT gives children ages 7 to high school senior a chance to learn every angle of performance art, from on the stage to behind the scenes.

To celebrate the company's birthday, there will be a party after the February 9 performance of Romeo and Juliet at the Community Arts Center.  It is free to everyone who attends the play that night.
