Several meetings announced to discuss Wilmington Housing Authority

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) — The Board of Directors of Housing and Economic Opportunities, Inc. and the Board of Commissioners of the Wilmington Housing Authority will meet at the following times:

  • April 20: Finance and audit committee, 4 p.m.
  • April 20: Acquisition, renovation and development committee, 5 p.m.
  • CANCELLED--April 21: Resident and community relations committee, 4 p.m.

These meeting will be held in the Wilmington Housing Authority Executive conference room, located at 1524 S. 16th Street.

The following April 25 meetings will take place in the Wilmington Housing Authority executive conference room:

  • Housing and Economic Opportunities, Inc. Board of Directors, 4 p.m.
  • Wilmington Housing Authority Board of Commissioners, 4:30 p.m.

Commissioners Barfield, Thompson to attend Cape Fear Future Commission meeting

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – According to officials, commissioners Jonathan Barfield, Jr. and Jason Thompson are expected to attend a breakfast meeting of the Cape Fear Future Commission at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6.

The breakfast will reportedly be held at Snipes Academy, located at 2150 Chestnut Street.

New Hanover County Board of Commissioners to meet tonight

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. today for a regular session.

According to officials, the board will be given a report by HDR Engineering on their findings concerning the county's WASTEC facility.

Prior to the meeting, 27 residents will graduate from the New Hanover County Citizen's Academy during an informal reception. The residents have reportedly spend the past 10 weeks learning how the various departments of county government operate.

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The Wilmington Housing Authority has announced that the Board of Directors of Housing and Economic Opportunities, Inc. will meet with WHA on the following dates:

  • March 17: Resident and Community Relations Committee, 4 p.m.
  • March 21: Tour of new Brooklyn Homes at Robert R. Taylor Estates, 3:30 p.m.
  • March 21: Housing and Economic Opportunities, Inco Board of Directors, 4 p.m.
  • March 21: Wilmington Housing Authority Board of Commissioners, 4:30 p.m.

Arts advocacy workshop announced

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Arts supporters in southeastern North Carolina are encouraged to attend an arts advocacy workshop presented by Arts North Carolina and hosted by the Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington. The free workshop is to train and receive updates about the upcoming legislative sessions in the N.C. General Assembly.

You can learn how to help support and maintain arts funding durng difficult economic times by attending on Wednesday, March 2 at 5:30 p.m.

NHCS' Family Life Education Dept. holds open house

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - An open house to present the middle school Family Life Education options will be hosted by New Hanover County Schools' Family Life Education Department at the Dale K. Spencer Building, 1802 S. 15th Street. The presentation will be March 8 from 5-7 p.m.

Parents of rising sixth, seventh and eighth graders who wish to learn about the middle school Family Life Education programs are invited to view the two sexuality education curricula: Sex Can Wait and Stepping Stones to Better Living: Responsible Decisions.
