Market Street getting new Japanese restaurant

Market Street getting new Japanese restaurant

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Construction is underway to transform the old Wendy’s at 4102 Market Street into a Japanese Restaurant by mid June.

Owner Cesar Poon said the new restaurant will be called Tokyo Grill Asian Fusion. It will feature a hibachi grill and an open atmosphere blending the dining room and the kitchen.

"Everybody can see the kitchen," Poon said.

Friday he and a few others worked on putting down a new floor and other construction work. He said everything from the floor to the ceiling to the walls will be brand new and you won’t be able to recognize the building used to be a burger joint.

He already has another restaurant in another part of the state and he said the appeal to the Wilmington store is the location.

"Wilmington is really famous for the beach and a lot of people come here for vacation," he said.
