WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The 13th annual Cape Fear Community College Boat Show will take place Saturday in downtown Wilmington.

Wooden boats, kayaks, skiffs and boats from the Simmons Sea Skiff Club will be featured during the show, which will take place on the banks of the Cape Fear River, according to CFCC spokesperson David Hardin. The school’s boat building shops will be open for self-guided tours and children will be able to build their own boat at a special toy sailboat tent.

“Boat building is a craft that takes incredible amounts of dedication and patience, but in the end, the satisfaction is usually worth the price,” CFCC boat building instructor Ed Verge stated. “There’s really nothing like the feeling of taking a boat you spent months or years working on out on the water for the first time.”

The show will be held at 500 N. Water St. between the Hilton and Coast Line Center, beginning at 9:30 a.m. and running through 4:30 p.m. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to benefit student scholarships, Hardin said.
