Photo Gallery | 40-foot tall tree takes out power line as it falls on Chestnut Street
WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A 40-foot tall tree took out a power line as it fell on Friday in the 1800 block of Chestnut Street.
A neighbor told WECT.com that he heard the tree crack around 6 p.m. He left his home for a little while and when he returned it had fallen across the road.
The Tree Management Division of the City of Wilmington had already planned on removing the tree this week because of a crack in the bottom of the trunk. Crews were busy Monday morning slicing it up and removing it from the roadway.
